The Path of Enlightenment

A through-composed Novel by Christopher Moors

1. On the threshold between being awake and being asleep, Zoshu felt a presence by his side. “Come this way,” a voice whispered inside his head. Without hesitation he drifted into a landscape that was hazy with just a little bit of translucent light. “This is where we begin,” the voice continued.

Zoshu began to notice the presence taking shape in the figure of an older looking man with gentle and strong eyes. “I’ve been waiting for you,” he said to Zoshu as things around them became clearer revealing a luscious meadow with abundant greenery and birds of every color fluttering from tree to tree. “You already know me, but let me introduce myself once again as Elvington.”

Remembering their friendship of many lifetimes, Zoshu laughed and embraced his long time mentor. By now each could see the other’s complete aura glowing radiantly amidst the pastoral backdrop. Zoshu was a healthy blue-green with dancing specs of Indigo while Elvington was a light hue of Violet dispersing into a radiant white. “Welcome back to the wondrous astral realm,” chuckled Elvington. “I will once again be your guide.”

For a moment a serious look flashed across Elvington’s face and his aura shuddered. Extremely perceptive and sensitive to energy changes, Zoshu asked, “What is it?” “It is time for you to stand on your own Zoshu,” Elvington replied. “Many experiences will you undertake on this journey. You will be given exactly what you need to make it to complete liberation. However, there is no guarantee and many have been lost along the way. All I can do is point you in the right direction. It is up to you to steadily walk on.”

“Zoshu,” a sweet voice called from behind them. “Zoshu, it is time.” Without even turning around, Zoshu knew from the depths of his soul who it was. “Corina,” he said with a smile. “Yes it is me,” she smiled back. Corina had been with Zoshu in various incarnations supporting the feminine side of his nature. She had been his mother, sister, and most recently his daughter. “All of your training has been for this occasion,” she told him. This triggered a memory of his first meeting with Elvington and the words uttered to him long ago.

“We shall remove the sleep from your eyes for you are a creature of truth. A simple human body cannot contain your greatness and your magnificence transcends even the astral kingdom. There will come a day when you will make a journey for your own liberation and encounter many others along the way. Some will attempt to deceive, some will assist, and some may even seduce you. Each step will be harder than the last, but you will gain strength with every success. Your fate will be closely observed as more adventurers will soon follow. Triumph on your part will open the gates for the multitudes to finally flow on the path of enlightenment.”
