After winding through foggy mountain roads until late in the night, Z and Padre entered an ethereal new world.  In the building designated as the meeting ground for fellow travelers, they quickly bumped into people, some of who would be of great significance to Zoshu’s life.  So many so soon, they simply exchanged greetings and turned in for the night.

Waking to the next daydream, several of the pilgrims gathered in a room at the sleeping lodge for a ceremony led by Mahu the mystic storyteller.  Zoshu looked around and one of the women there said hi as if she knew him and handed him a drum.  Soon, Mahu the spirit woman burst into song and Zoshu drummed deeply calling to the ancestors to help heal his soul and the world.

The group shared their joys and pain in an atmosphere of acceptance.  Together they moved to another location to prepare for the fire ceremony to be held later for the large group who were arriving that day.  Again, Zoshu was with his new friend Tara who had given him the drum.  They talked and tied ribbons for the ancestors.  With every ribbon, their own ties grew and hearts opened.
